A Letter from Chef Yudi
As my team and I look back on this past year, we feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. When we opened HARU Omakase in Columbus one year ago, our dream was simple — to create an intimate space where people could experience the heart of modern omakase: craftsmanship, creativity, and connection.
Every evening at the counter has been a chance to share a part of that dream. Each course, each knife stroke, and each conversation has reminded me why I fell in love with omakase in the first place.
“It’s not just about serving sushi; it’s about creating moments.”
This year has been full of learning and growth. We’ve welcomed guests who were trying omakase for the first time and others who have become familiar faces, returning each season to see how our menu evolves. Your excitement and curiosity has inspired us to keep pushing our creativity — to blend traditional Japanese technique with modern flavors in a way that feels true to both our past and present.
The word Haru means spring — a season of renewal and new beginnings. Fittingly, this first year has been exactly that for us. From sourcing the freshest fish and produce, to refining our rice, to finding the perfect balance in each bite, every detail has been part of that pursuit of growth.
To everyone who has sat at our counter, shared your evening with us, and supported our dream: Thank You. You’ve turned this vision into something real and alive.
As we move into our second year, I’m excited to share more of our approach through this new outlet. I hope to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how we craft each omakase menu, highlight fish that inspire us each season, and share the stories and techniques that make every bite meaningful. I can’t wait to bring you closer to the process and passion behind HARU Omakase.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our first year. We hope to welcome you back soon — to share another season together.
